The castle wasThe castle has fallen into a deep sleep, with its role as a defensive fortification now merely a footnote in the history books. It was briefly disturbed during the 80 Years’ War when Prince Maurice laid siege to it, but it soon returned to its slumber. But recently, a recurring nightmare has had the castle tossing and turning.

Slowly but surely, the castle’s dreams have given way to nightmares of the enormous fire that ravaged the castle in 1549. During the tour, the castle tries to figure out what happened and asks visitors for their help. Once the mystery is solved, the castle’s nightmare will finally be put to bed.

During the tour of the attic, you will meet the former residents of the castle, including castle governor Joost van Cortenbach, custodian Hendrik van Werdingen, and his two sons and son-in-law. These ghosts from the past manifest themselves in various forms, such as shadows, footsteps, and voices. What they say could be either true or false: are things really as they claim or are they being economical with the truth? Follow the candle and get to the heart of the mystery – the most exciting stories are right here in the attic!

The attic tale is based on a true story. The characters lived here in real life and the fire is a true event.

This guided tour costs € 2,50 plus museum admission.
